So you’re planning a trip to Switzerland: home of the Alps, Toblerone chocolate, Swiss cheese, and Swiss Army watches. You may have already purchased your Europe airline tickets, but you may not have much of a plan about where you will stay and what you will do. Switzerland is arguably one of the most expensive countries in Western Europe, which is why we have put together a list of some of the cheaper activities and accommodations for your vacation.
Hostels, Hostels, Hostels: If you don’t want to spend an arm and a leg on your accommodations in Switzerland, it may be a good idea to stay in a affordable hostel. Both Bern and Interlaken offer various high-end hostels with gorgeous mountainside views. You may also make a friend or two during your stay!
Take a Hike!: You didn’t travel all the way to Switzerland to stay in your room the entire time! Take an easy hike up one of the gorgeous mountainsides to gain a better view of the towns below. Also, make sure to take a swig of the fresh Swiss spring water if you get the chance.
Free Walking Tours: Most towns in Switzerland will offer free walking tours on a regular basis. These tours can be highly informative and are another great way to meet foreign travelers like yourself!
