Jerusalem is one of the most historically rich cities in the world. Even today, it is the center of regional politics. With such a diverse mix of people and cultures, Jerusalem is a city unlike any other. No trip to Israel would be complete without paying the city a visit. Jerusalem is Israel’s largest city in both population and area. The city has been destroyed twice, besieged 23 times, attacked 52 times, and captured 44 times. Jerusalem was settled around 4000 BCE, making it one of the oldest cities on the planet. If a city is around for thousands of years, a lot of history can transpire.
Jerusalem’s is still making history today. Palestine claims East Jerusalem as its capital, something Israel disagrees with. The international community wants to make Jerusalem an international city, but neither side wants to see that happen. This historical focal point is still shaping the world we live in today. What will Jerusalem’s history by in 50 year? You have to see it firsthand because it is so dynamic.
