London is a global city, with financial, industrial and artistic draw. The only downside is that the pubs close at midnight. Europe airline tickets, whether one way or round trip are relatively inexpensive, especially if you want to go to the other contenders for best European city.
Brussels is a financial center too, and located near Bruge, a city with lots of Old World charm. Amsterdam is nearby, and is perhaps one of the most international cities in Europe, with a Chinatown and the many different nationalities.
In Germany, Berlin is an artistic mecca, although it lacks the financial and industrial punch it would need to compete as a premier global city.
And of course, there’s always Chez Paris. So if you don’t want business class airline tickets, think about getting a Euro Rail pass and Europe airline tickets, then taking trips through each of these cities. That way you can find out for yourself what is the best European city.
